The importance of woodland management
Every piece of woodland in the UK has in fact had some form of human intervention, even our most ancient woodlands. It may seem counter-intuitive, but over thousands of years, the interactions between plants, animals and humans will often create greater diversity than would be found otherwise.
A week with the Western Forest
Before starting my work experience with Western Forest, I didn’t know a huge amount about what the organisation does. I quickly realised that Western Forest is about so much more than planting trees.
How do you create a forest?
Over the next 25 years, 20 million trees will be planted, restoring woodlands at scale and connecting our cities, countryside and towns to improve the quality of life where people live, work and visit.
